Feb-May Health Update

As usual it’s been a while since I last posted (longer than usual this time), and the site had some technical problems which are now taken care of, but I’m back for a post ^_^.

The scans that I’ve received so far this year have not shown any new tumor growth. I’m still taking my chemo treatment monthly which continues to add tiredness and nausea to the schedule, but I’m thankful that it’s there to help me fight the GBM. I continue to have pain around the surgical area which I recently discussed with my doctor since I figured it would have dissipated by now. He said that because of the nerve damage and the cut in the skull, I’ll have to deal with the pain indefinitely. Apparently it’s not something my body will fix. One thing I just started that is helping though, is taking a steroid that is taken as needed. It helps reduce the swelling nicely so far.

So I’m still kicking and enjoying each day I’m blessed to have.

I am jumping with joy! Will you participate in the trial or is it about ready to be available to all GB patients.

Not 100% sure. My doc said that I’d most likely be able to join. The thing is you have to have the tumor regrow before they start the therapy.

We’ll have to see if there’s any taping Justin can come up with that might relieve some pain and tension.

To my life long buddy, and a true inspiration! I was so glad to hear no growth. You are showing this GBM who’s boss, being hard headed is a virtue you have mastered 🙂
But I hate that your hurting, and pain and nausea are certainly draining. I wish I could take it for you. Hope that they can help you more with it in some way. Glad the steroids are helping, and they aren’t everyday, so you might sleep two nights a week. I tell you they keep me up so I try to take them early, but mine are everyday and have to double dose when stressed. But hope they continue to help you in some way.
You are truely blessed, I am amazed by your beautiful wife, her love for you and yours for her is so beautiful. You have such a cool Sister and Brother in Law, Parents who love you beyond words, and Parents-In-Law, and so many people who love you. Count us in!!!

Heeeeeeyyyy Jessi, you got so much to deal with yourself, don’t be so nice thinking about others :). I hope that all the pain management politics will dissipate and allow you to manage it better again.

So one morning I woke up and there was a cow on my doorstep. Not what I was expecting. I went down the street to a neighbor who I know raises cows. He said it wasn’t his, but he’d contact other farmers around the area. A few hours go by and the cow comes back to visit my house. At this point I call the sheriff’s. They come out with four vehicles with ATVs and they managed to find the cow’s owner. Only problem, the cow went missing again.

Later in the afternoon I was looking out the back window and saw the cow sticking his head out of the woods appearing to stare at me. I closed the gate up front, which kept the cow around my property. The owner, his son, and a neighbor came by and we tried to catch the bull but he tore ass through the woods. My neighbors eventually got him. I think I may get a steak or two when it comes harvest time. Life in the country. ^_^

  4. Dad

You have no idea how joyful we get when you share the good news of your reports. The good news is a gift from God so that we can spend more time with you and Alex, which we love to do (even if Alex corrects every one of my erroneous biology remarks). Let’s go out to eat!
I am truly amazed how you handle your pain. Most of the time I forget that you are in pain at all because you have the ability of move on with life in spite of the hurting. If I were in pain, I don’t think I could live up to the way you cope with it. You are impressive.
